Welcome. We're Liona Kehler and Vern Kehler, co-founders of Empower Counselling Services. We're glad you're here.
When we envisioned Empower, we wanted to create a counselling practice rooted in genuine human connection. A place where people feel welcomed, respected, and understood, without having to make themselves easier to understand or arrive with everything figured out.
That vision continues to guide how we work, how we grow, and the kind of practice we hope to be.
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a counselling practice where people feel genuinely welcomed, respected, and understood. A place where you don't have to be anyone other than yourself to belong, and where your experiences, identity, and individual needs are met with curiosity, compassion, and care.
We believe therapy is more than a collection of techniques. It's a human relationship built on trust, collaboration, and the understanding that healing looks different for everyone.
Through our work, we hope to contribute to a community where seeking support feels less intimidating, meaningful connection is valued, and people have the freedom to explore who they are and what a fulfilling life might look like for them.
We also believe that what we offer can extend beyond the therapy room. Through our writing and educational resources, and our connection to the wider Winnipeg community, we hope to make thoughtful, accessible information available to anyone who might find it helpful, whether they ever become a client or not.
A Vision That Continues to Grow
We don't see this vision as something we've completed or a destination we've already reached. It's an ongoing commitment to learning, listening, and allowing the people we work with to inform how our practice continues to evolve.
We want Empower to be a place where our values are reflected not only in what we say, but in how people experience their time with us.
You can learn more about the commitments that guide our work on our Core Values page, or get to know us a little better through our About Us page.
